About Us
Cans for Kids was initiated in April, 2020 at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic to assist Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) students by collecting non-perishable foods and donating them to our peers during these troubling times. In October of 2021, we became an Ardrey Kell High School club and provide volunteer opportunities to our students through food drives, fundraisers, and other service events. As a non-profit organization, Cans for Kids continues to serve our community as a whole.
Our Mission
Cans for Kids aims to aid children who are less fortunate by helping them get daily meals. In addition to collecting food and drink donations, we provide volunteer opportunities to CMS students during our food drives and fundraisers. Through our value of students supporting their peers, we raise awareness of the issues in our local community and encourage other students to step forward and make our community a better place.
Accomplishments
Cans for Kids has achieved so much with the help of every volunteer.
As of Fall, 2022, we have donated over 20,000 pounds of food to the local food bank, recruited over 200 volunteers, and contributed more than 4,000 volunteer hours to the effort in helping children in need.
