Annual Ardrey Kell Campus Cleanup on February 26th, 2024

On February 26th, Cans for Kids initiated a campus-wide clean up event to pick up trash and litter throughout the Ardrey Kell campus. We were able to clean up the parking lots and the roadside, and the difference is apparent. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped us make the school a cleaner and nicer place for all!

Operation Christmas Child Event 2023

Cans for Kids joined Operation Christmas Child's efforts in packaging gifts for children in need in over 170 different countries. We sorted items, scanned shoeboxes, and packaged boxes, knowing that each individual one would go towards making one more child happy on Christmas day.

Second Harvest Thanksgiving Fundraisers 2023

Cans for Kids partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank to help fundraise for the upcoming holiday season. We waved signs and collected donations throughout the Stonecrest shopping center. Like last year, we had help from many Cans for Kids and Second Harvest volunteers, and thousands of dollars were raised for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Start of the 2023 - 2024 School Year

Cans for Kids held an interest meeting on September 26th, which kicked off the start of the new school year. There will continue to be monthly volunteer events, with the first one being the Second Harvest Food Bank Thankgiving fundraiser at Stonecrest Shopping Center!

Cans for Kids End of Year Celebration 2023

Cans for Kids held an end-of-year celebration on June 2nd, 2023 to celebrate the past year's activities. We went over the events of the year, discussed plans for the following school year, and announced the leadership team for the 2023-2024 school year. Special thanks to Mr. Rochester for coming!

Youth Partner Award 2023

Cans for Kids was recently recognized alongside companies including Bank of America, Food Lion Feeds, and Harris Teeter as Second Harvest Food Bank's first Youth Partner Award recipient for contributions to feeding people in the Metrolina area in need.

Cans for Kids Spring Food Drive 2023

Cans for Kids hosted the Spring food drive on April 1st. Despite the rain, we were able to collect over 330 pounds, donating half of them to Ballantyne Helping Neighbors in Need to assist the Community House Middle School Pantry and the other half to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Cans for Kids was recently featured in the seasonal Second Harvest Food Bank's Blessings newsletter alongside companies including Bank of America, Food Lion Feeds, and Harris Teeter for contributions to feeding those in the Charlotte area in need.

November 2022 Second Harvest Food Bank Stonecrest Event

Cans for Kids partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank to help fundraise. We waved signs and collected donations throughout the Stonecrest shopping center. With the help of so many Cans for Kids and Second Harvest volunteers, thousands of dollars were raised for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

September 2022 Community House Pantry Event

On September 21st, Cans for Kids partnered with Ballantyne Families Helping Neighbors In Need and Ardrey Kell to help stock up Community House Middle School's pantry using food from Ardrey Kell's pantry. With 16 volunteers, we were able to quickly fill and organize Community House's pantry.

One Dollar Challenge 2022

Throughout September and October, our main event has been the One Dollar Challenge. In partnership with Second Harvest, we are fundraising to raise money for families who need food. For evey one dollar donated, a person can be fed for 2 days.

End of Year Celebration 2022

Cans for Kids held an end-of-year celebration on May 20th, 2022 to celebrate the past year's activities. We went over the events of the year and discussed plans for the following school year. We also gave out awards and recognitions to volunteers showing exceptional dedication and commitment, along with announcing the leadership team for the 2022-2023 school year. April 2nd, 2022 Spring Food Drive

On April 2nd, Cans for Kids hosted a food drive to assist in the Ardrey Kell Hunger Drive effort. We were able to collect over 300 pounds of donations, and all of these were delivered to the boxes at the front entrance to contribute to the hunger drive.

January 2022 Community House Pantry Event

On January 20th, Cans for Kids donated 263 pounds of food to the Community House Middle School (CHMS) in order to support their new food pantry by working with Ballantyne Helping Neighbors in Need. This pantry was designed to bring aid to those in CHMS and their families who are in need of food. The food was collected over the course of 2 months and sorted by a group of volunteers before being brought to the pantry.

Southwest Middle School Donation 2021

This November's volunteer event ended in great success. After we sorted books in the Ardrey Kell parking lot, our 12 volunteers helped unload the books at Southwest Middle School. Over 200 books were contributed to the Southwest Middle School library.

October 2021 Yard Sale Fundraiser

This October's yard sale fundraiser had over 10 volunteers helping out. We sold a variety of items that included toys, books, and clothes. In total, we raised over 400 dollars for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Summer 2021 Fundraiser Concluded

The July - August food fundraiser at the Stone Creek Ranch pool has ended after much success: over 100 dollars were raised and donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.
